The Level 5 Extended Diploma qualification provide you with industry-specific and practical skills, enabling you to successfully apply your knowledge in the workplace, enhance your career prospects and allow progression to further study.
It is equivalent to the first and second years of a university degree. You will study level 4 and 5 units, worth 120 credits per academic year with a total credit value of 240 credits. The Level 4 units lay the foundations of learning by providing an introduction to relevant topics.
The Level 5 units allow learners to specialise and progress into specific occupational areas.  
This qualification represents practical knowledge, skills, capabilities and competences that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to Higher National Diplomas (HND) and Year 2 of a three-year UK Bachelor's degree.
While on this programme you are expected to further develop the following skills that includes but not limited to developing knowledge and academic study skills including active research skills, effective writing skills, analytical skills, critical thinking, creative problem-solving, decision-making and digital literacy.
The qualification consists of 12 mandatory units, 240 credits, 2400 hours Total Qualification Time (TQT) and the recommended Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for this qualification is a minimum of 1200 hours. To achieve the OTHM Level 5 Extended Diploma in Business Management, learners must achieve 240 credits, of which 120 credits are at Level 4 (6 units) and 120 credits are at Level 5 (6 units).

Successful completion of the Level 5 Extended Diploma in Business Management provides learners the opportunity for a wide range of academic progressions including the Level 6 Diploma in Business Management qualification. The RQF 240 credits can be completed within 12 to 18 months.
This qualification is approved and regulated by Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation), learners are eligible to gain direct entry into Year 3 of a three-year UK Bachelor’s degree programme.

  • The Management of Human Resources, level 5 (20 credits ).
  • Marketing for Managers, level 5 (20 credits ).
  • Business Law for Managers, level 5 (20 credits ).
  • Management Accounting and Decision Making, level 5 (20 credits ).
  • Business Start-up: Conception to Market, level 5 (20 credits ).
  • Entry requirement:

    • Relevant Level 3 Diploma qualification or equivalent qualification.
    • GCE Advanced level in 2 subjects or equivalent qualification.
    Mature learners (over 21) with relevant management experience.

    Method of Assessment:
    This qualification is internally assessed and quality assured by Centre staff then externally quality assured. This is a knowledge and competence-based qualification.
    Knowledge evidence includes but not limited to written work completed then submitted online via the e-portfolio system, assignment tasks and where possible reports from work placement while considering GDPR as required as part of assessment.
    Direct observation of competence inline to unit standard and learner’s Organisation policy and procedure in place has to be followed.
    To achieve a ‘pass’ for a unit, you must provide evidence to demonstrate that you have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria. Judgement that you have successfully fulfilled the assessment criteria is made by your allocated Assessor.
