Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training Management.

This qualification is intended to develop learners’ understanding of policy, management theory and practice in education.
The qualification provides learners with knowledge that underpins the ability to work as an
effective administrator or manager in the education sector.

The Level 5 units will develop
and enhance knowledge and skills in the areas of leading change, effective performance, lifelong learning, resource management, planning and accountability, reflective practice, professional development and team leadership.

Please note that the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training Management
qualification does not enable learners to apply for QTLS or become a recognised qualified
teacher, but the qualification does provide the knowledge and skills for learners to work in a
variety of roles within education administration and/or management.

The Level 5 represents practical knowledge, skills, capabilities and competences that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to Foundation Degrees, Higher National Diplomas (HND) and Year 2 of a three-year UK Bachelor's degree.

The Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training Management qualification consists of
6 mandatory units for a combined total of 120 credits, 1200 hours Total Qualification Time
(TQT) and 600 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) for the completed qualification.


Successful completion of the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training Management provides learners with the opportunity to progress directly into a variety of roles within education administration and/or management or continue their study including
progression to other relevant Level 6 Diplomas.


As this qualification is approved and regulated by
Ofqual (Office of the Qualifications and Examinations Regulation) 

Learner may be eligible to gain direct entry into Year 3 of a three year UK Bachelor’s degree programme upon completing this qualification.

Course structure


Below is a list of the mandatory units that make up the qualification. 
  • Applied Theories and Principles of Education and Training (20 credits ).
  • Lifelong Learning - Key Concepts (20 credits ).
  • Resource Management in Education (20 credits ).
  • Develop and Evaluate Operational Plans for Own Area of Responsibility (20 credits ).
  • Provide Leadership and Direction for Own Area of Responsibility (20 credits).
  • Reflective Practice and Professional Development (20 credits ).
  • Entry requirement:

    • Relevant Level 3 and or Level 4 Diploma qualification or equivalent qualification
    • GCE Advanced level in 2 subjects or equivalent qualification
    • Mature learners (over 21) with relevant management experience.

    Method of Assessment:
    This qualification is internally assessed and quality assured by Centre staff then externally quality assured. This is a knowledge and competence-based qualification.
    Knowledge evidence includes but not limited to written work completed then submitted online via the e-portfolio system, assignment tasks and where possible reports from work placement while considering GDPR as required as part of assessment.
    Direct observation of competence inline to unit standard and learner’s Organisation policy and procedure has to be followed.
    To achieve a ‘pass’ for a unit, you must provide evidence to demonstrate that you have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria. Judgement that you have successfully fulfilled the assessment criteria is made by your allocated Assessor.

    Hybrid teaching and learning takes place which include face to face where possible and virtual online classroom session.

    Online e-learning platform is used to support learner while on the programme.
